Intelligent & Digital Roadway Infrastructure for Vehicles Integrated with Next-Gen Technologies

On November 25, 2025, the Municipality of Thessaloniki hosted a significant twinning learning event at the Directorate of Urban Planning and Architectural Studies, within the framework of the ReGenWest – Net Zero Cities (NZC) Programme.

The event served as a platform for knowledge transfer between twinning partners and urban planners. Dr. V. Akyllas represented the city with a presentation titled “Thessaloniki Roadmap to Carbon Neutrality.”

During the session, Dr. Akyllas showcased the integration of the iDriving project within the city’s broader “Carbon Neutral Action Plan.” He demonstrated specifically how the project’s traffic management solutions are not just technical innovations, but practical tools assisting the city in reducing emissions and reaching its ambitious sustainability targets.

By sharing these insights with international partners, we are ensuring that the lessons learned from iDriving contribute to the wider European goal of creating climate-neutral cities.
