
The iDriving project, funded by the European Commission through Horizon Europe (Grant Agreement No. 101147004), officially launched with a successful two-day kick-off meeting on July 17-18, 2024, hosted at CERTH’s premises in Thessaloniki. Project partners, gathered to establish the foundation for this ambitious project which aims to integrate next-generation technologies for safer and more efficient road systems.
The meeting commenced with an introduction by Project Coordinator Stephanos Vrochidis, who welcomed participants on behalf of CERTH. Attendees engaged in a consortium-wide presentation, sharing insights into their organizations and outlining their contributions to the project. Nikolaos Dourvas of CERTH provided an overview of iDriving’s objectives, emphasizing the importance of inter-partner collaboration and the timeline for project activities and deliverables.

Each WP leader presented upcoming tasks, deliverable schedules, and key action points, including bi-weekly web meetings and bi-annual internal reports. Significant attention was given to data governance, intellectual property, and risk management to ensure compliance with EU regulations.

The second day focused on detailed planning for the pilot use cases across European cities, where the iDriving solutions will be tested. Discussions centered on regulatory compliance, data privacy, and operational logistics for UAV deployment. Partners emphasized collaboration with local authorities to facilitate data collection and testing in real-world environments.
