The iDriving consortium gathered in Champs-sur-Marne (France) for the project’s 2nd Plenary Meeting, held on 22–24 September 2025.
Hosted by Université Gustave Eiffel, the three-day meeting brought together partners to review progress across work packages, align on technical priorities and KPIs, and advance the project’s real-world pilot scenarios – culminating in a live demonstration in Nevers.
A packed agenda: progress, pilots, and planning ahead
The meeting opened with welcome remarks from Université Gustave Eiffel, followed by discussions on the overall project progress and the road ahead.
Across the three days, the consortium covered:
- Work Package updates and next steps, including coordination and technical progress.
- Scenario presentations and technical discussions for the project use cases in Nevers, Graz, Karlovac, Thessaloniki, Alba Iulia, and Bizkaia, ensuring that implementation plans stay grounded in real operational needs.
- A focused session on KPIs and the Safety Criteria Catalogue (SCC) to support consistent evaluation and harmonised reporting across pilots.
Ethics at the core of iDriving
A key highlight of Day 1 was the session on ethical requirements, and of the project’s adherence to EU legal and ethical standards, including:
- Developing practical guidelines to safeguard privacy
- Upholding research integrity across project activities
- Promoting the fair and responsible use of AI
- Monitoring compliance so these principles are consistently applied
Knowledge exchange with sister projects
The plenary also created space for collaboration beyond the consortium, including knowledge exchange with a sister project through an EvoRoads project presentation.
From meeting room to reality: live demonstration in Nevers
On Day 3, the consortium travelled from Paris to Nevers for a dedicated session featuring the Use Case presentation and demonstration – connecting the week’s discussions directly to field-level implementation and validation.
Looking forward
The 2nd Plenary Meeting helped align technical work, evaluation planning, and real-world deployment readiness across pilots-while keeping responsible innovation (especially ethics, privacy, and trustworthy AI use) front and centre.
iDriving is developing intelligent, data-driven solutions to support safer, more efficient road infrastructure-strengthening hazard detection, infrastructure maintenance, and vehicle-to-infrastructure communication in line with European safety goals.
