Intelligent & Digital Roadway Infrastructure for Vehicles Integrated with Next-Gen Technologies

The main objective of this workshop is to present the first results of the iDriving, EvoRoads and CAMBER projects on requirements for innovative solutions for road safety assessment, defined in co-creation with the Living Labs’ stakeholders, and to gather valuable feedback from related projects, invited to present alongside their approach and progress to date. The workshop will be the opportunity to initiate a clustering of projects working on complementary topics, and to exchange useful insights with these related initiatives.

The EC-funded project EvoRoads (Evolutionary Solutions for Realising a Holistic Safe System Approach for All Road Users) is committed to advancing EU’s Vision Zero initiative by implementing a comprehensive Safety Assessment Framework that integrates innovative models, tools, and services to dynamically monitor the road infrastructure performance as part of the “Safe System” approach. EvoRoads’ methodologies and technologies will be validated in four Living Labs addressing diverse road user scenarios across urban and rural environments.

The EU-funded CAMBER project uses a multipronged approach to develop workable solutions for integrating asset and safety management in urban and secondary road networks, aiming to identify affordable safety improvements. The project approach leverages road maintenance and upgrades to improve safety for all road users using new generation data sources and analytics with advanced digital twins of road infrastructure. In doing so, CAMBER aims to improve the efficiency of the systems used by road managers, reducing the costs associated with the collection of data required for road condition and safety evaluations.
